Reporting Required for American Housing and Rescue Foreclosure Prevention Act is Easier with Case Management and Reporting Software

The American Housing and Rescue Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008: Many cities are managing foreclosure property violations using funds received from the federal government through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Funding grants administered through the American Housing and Rescue Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008, as well as Community Development Block Grants, requires that recipient cities report back to the government on how these funds are spent. Pomona’s Case Management and Reporting Solution: Pomona’s Code Enforcement Unit uses Comcate Code Enforcement Manager software to manage enforcement cases and violations. Comcate’s software allows officers to access live case data in the field from a laptop in their cars, to manage these cases, print violation notices and reports, and to schedule follow-up visits. Pomona subscribes to a foreclosure subscription service so that foreclosure addresses can be fed into the database. Pomona has added a custom field to their cases that designate whether a property is under foreclosure, allowing the department to run reports specifically tracking foreclosure violations to satisfy their federal grant requirements. Identification of foreclosed property addresses within the violation database is also helpful as it allows officers to determine the most effective enforcement process for foreclosed violations (violations on foreclosed properties often can’t be resolved through a criminal case as the property ownership changes.)
